Best of the Booth is a fun look inside the Rolex 24 at Daytona. James Hinchliffe and Townsend Bell are both storied race car drivers, back to race each other as support drivers in IMSA’s GTD Pro class at the Rolex 24.
Covering a 24 Hour event is very daunting. It’s easier when you are only covering two story arcs, but still challenging to distill a week of prep and 24 hours of racing into a 90 second segment. Because of the short TRT of the piece, we were able to focus our coverage on the best possible shots rather than trying to catch everything. The goal was to make this piece look and feel like an action movie.

We shot the project on DZO lenses and Sony Venice / FX6. Venice’s image really lends itself to the contrasty images of an action film. It also has a second 2500 base ISO which makes shooting nighttime scenes very easy.

This project was tremendously fun, and I thin the edit shows that. FOX was fantastic to work with.
